Our brewers’ secret

This Oude Gueuze is the result of a carefully balanced blend 1-, 2-, and 3-year-old lambic. Both are matured in large oak barrels called foeders, where they slowly develop their depth and character. The young lambic still contains active yeast and sugars, which trigger a natural second fermentation once bottled in champagne bottles. This process gives this Oude Gueuze its fine sparkle, refined white head, and signature dry, complex taste.

A beer that ages like wine

A beer that ages like wine

Did you know this Oude Gueuze continues to evolve in the bottle? Thanks to its natural re-fermentation, it can be aged like a fine wine. Store it lying down in a cool, dark place, and after a few years, you’ll discover even more depth and character. When serving, pour gently to avoid disturbing the yeast at the bottom. Whether you prefer it clear or with a touch of sediment, each glass offers a unique tasting experience.

The champagne bottle tradition

The tradition of bottling Oude Gueuze in champagne bottles goes back to a time when lambic brewers collected empty bottles from upscale restaurants. These elegant bottles weren’t just practical—they became a symbol of quality. Today, they still hold one of Belgium’s most noble beers, often called the “champagne of beers."

Geuze or Gueuze? A Belgian classic with two names and one soul

You might notice two spellings on labels and menus: Geuze and Gueuze. That’s no mistake—just a reflection of Belgium’s two official languages. Geuze is the Dutch spelling, while Gueuze is French. Both refer to the same iconic beer style. So whether you’re in Brussels or Bruges, you’re ordering the same refreshingly complex drink—just with a different accent.
