Discover Belgium's Pajottenland region
Belgium’s Pajottenland, a small region outside of Brussels, offers visitors an irresistible blend of great beer, engaging cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. Cycling enthusiasts can explore dozens of scenic routes through fields and orchards, while history lovers will discover medieval churches and traditional gueuze cafés tucked into cobblestone villages. Art aficionados may recognize the landscape from Pieter Bruegel the Elder's paintings—he drew inspiration from these very hills. Farm-to-table restaurants abound, showcasing regional specialties like Pajottenland white asparagus, mussels poached in gueuze and soft, artisanal cheeses.
From lambic brewery tours and tasting experiences to hiking trails that connect charming hamlets like Vlezenbeek, Beersel and Halle, this small region delivers an authentic taste of Flemish rural life. Here, age-old lambic brewing methods continue to thrive alongside modern Belgian culture.
