This pioneering approach didn’t just solve a challenge—it set a new standard and sparked a worldwide love for cherry lambic. Today, Lindemans Kriek remains the global benchmark for Kriek beers: brilliant red, sparkling, and perfectly balanced between sweet and sour. Born from a challenge. Beloved worldwide

Born from a challenge. Beloved worldwide

Lindemans Kriek was born from a quirky challenge. Back in 1979, while shipping traditional Kriek to America, ocean waves reactivated fermentation—sending corks flying and spilling beer into the sea! René Lindemans, our 5th generation brewery owner, transformed this difficult predicament with an innovative solution. He stopped the refermentation via pasteurization and invented a sweeter, smoother Kriek in the process. A clever fix then, this cherry lambic beer is still a global favourite today!
