A tribute to René Lindemans, fifth generation of the Lindemans family, Lindemans Oude Kriek Cuvée René reflects his exceptional legacy.

Appearance

A deep ruby-red hue, reminiscent of Burgundy wine, topped with a delicate pink foam head. Its vibrant colour and elegant sparkle reflect the authenticity of traditional lambic craftsmanship.

Aroma

A complex bouquet with layers of ripe cherries, complemented by subtle notes of frangipane and marzipan. Intense yet inviting, this Oude Kriek offers a harmonious balance of fruity and nutty nuances.

Tasting notes

Oude Kriek has a refined and complex profile with vibrant notes of cherries and red fruit, complemented by delicate hints of frangipane. Fresh and pleasantly tart, it evolves into a slightly dry finish that lingers. The sweet-sour attack of the stone tannins gradually transforms into a magnificent finale. This sour fruit beer delivers an unforgettable tasting experience.

Our brewers’ secret

This traditional Oude Kriek owes its unique character to an authentic, time-honored process. Whole Schaarbeekse cherries are added to a blend of one- and three-year-old lambic, where they ferment for at least six months, enriching the beer with deep fruit complexity. After this slow maceration, the beer is bottled with a cork and undergoes a natural second fermentation, resulting in its fine sparkle and elegant pink foam.

The treasure of Schaarbeekse Krieken

The treasure of Schaarbeekse Krieken
Did you know that authentic Oude Kriek owes its depth and elegance to the rare Schaarbeekse Krieken? Traditionally grown around Brussels, these small, dark-red cherries are a true Belgian treasure. Their intense aroma and tart, complex flavour come to life when macerated in lambic, giving the beer its signature ruby-red colour and layered fruity character.

A second fermentation like fine wine

A second fermentation like fine wine

After macerating the cherries, Oude Kriek undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle—similar to the méthode champenoise used for sparkling wines. This traditional process creates natural carbonation and allows the flavours to evolve over time. Just like wine, it can be stored and cellar-aged, developing even more complexity and depth for 10 years or more!
